About Deb
Deb has been practicing yoga since 2001 and found the Ashtanga Yoga method shortly thereafter. She learned Ashtanga traditionally and continues to deepen her understanding of the practice through her own daily work and through teaching students at all stages—from those just beginning to seasoned practitioners.
She received her 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2007, completed Primary Series training with David Swenson in 2010, and Intermediate Series training with Tim Miller in 2014. In January 2017, Deb was honored to receive authorization to teach from Sharath Jois through KPJAYI.
Forever a student of yoga, Deb continues to study and refine her teaching. In 2023, she completed a month-long teacher intensive with Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor, further influencing both her personal practice and her approach to teaching.
Deb first traveled to Mysore in 2012, where her immersion in the method under Sharath’s guidance became a pivotal experience. The practice has taught her patience, trust, and faith in the method’s capacity to heal and transform. She is deeply committed to honoring the lineage while helping students find a practice that is sustainable, personal, and supportive over time.
Deb is the mother of three and a grandmother. Outside the shala, she enjoys travel, skiing, swimming, and spending time outdoors, as well as writing, reading, chanting, and meditation. She is also a student of dance and currently explores Latin rhythm dance as another expression of movement and inquiry.
